Our children are very knowledgeable about the rock cycle… from erosion and sedimentary rocks to metamorphic and igneous rocks, and the bits and pieces along the way! They enjoy an energetic game of “Baa, Moo, Hiss,” much like a buzz-in quiz show, in which they show their astoundingly vast storehouses of information and understanding, now most often answering questions that are only partially asked! They have also playfully developed a rap-style dance and song to explain the types of “orogeny,” mountain-building processes! Here are some of their torn painted paper renditions of the rock cycle…. And “cycle?”… Now that is an immense, overarching conceptual theme with which we have just begun to grapple!
