Mad Hatters

“National Make Your Own Hat Day!” was announced on the early morning radio, background to the semi-awakened state of mind during the drive the school. That seemed to offer interesting possibilities. The children were easily drawn in, many making sketches and tracking the development of ideas. This mini-study of imaginary hats was a quick-focused project that produced vibrant adjectives and “heavy” sentences for our reflections after embellishing hats from created newspaper and paper bags. It was yet another opportunity to use descriptive verbs and strategies to sequence our writing. Wow! Some of these fashions may make it to Paris!
